National Tropical Weather Conference
The National Tropical Weather Conference is the nation’s forum for professional training in hurricane preparedness for broadcast meteorologists. The two day conference covers all major aspects of hurricane preparedness, forecasting and research, providing a unique opportunity to learn from top experts in tropical meteorology. The setting for the conference is along the beach of South Padre Island, Texas the site of several hurricane landfalls including Beulah and Dolly. Attendees come from around the country to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season. Dr. Philip Klotzbach launches the conference with the current hurricane seasonal forecast.

National Hurricane Conference
The primary goal of the National Hurricane Conference is to improve hurricane preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation in order to save lives and property in the United States and the tropical islands of the Caribbean and Pacific. In addition, the conference serves as a national forum for federal, state and local officials to exchange ideas and recommend new policies to improve Emergency Management. To accomplish these goals, the annual conference emphasizes: -Lessons Learned from Hurricane Strikes -State of the art programs worthy of emulation -New ideas being tested or considered -Information about new or ongoing assistance programs -The ABC’s of hurricane preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation — in recognition of the fact that there is a continual turnover of emergency management leadership and staff

ASFPM Annual National COnference
The ASFPM annual conference is recognized as the most important floodplain conference in the United States year after year. With more than 120 speakers and 1,200 participants, they are the national conferences all community, state and federal floodplain managers plan to attend. And because of that, many of the most important consulting firms and product vendors associated with floodplain management attend. In recent years, the attendance has had about an equal number of private, local, state and federal participants from all over the U.S. and several foreign countries. 2017 BOAT Annual Conference
Hello and welcome to our Building Officials Association of Texas website. We have updated our content with a fresh clean look that reflects well on our chapter organization and our clear message to enhance the professionalism of our members. Here you will find information about our purpose, our constitution, news, and events planned for the year. BOAT also recognizes the good work of our building departments with awards for code professionals, administrative support, code enforcement, and chapter recognition. Each year we give scholarships to deserving students helping promote our highest goals of education. To date, we have provided over $20,000.00 dollars in educational funding. Another key mission of our chapter is code education. Our Building Professionals Institutes are organized to provide the latest code educational seminars four times a year in different locations throughout our great State of Texas. BOAT also helps cities in need of immediate assistance in emergency weather occurrences or disaster relief. BOAT recently enhanced its efforts with a Disaster Response Team and a fully equipped trailer. We continue to promote safe building construction, consistent use of ICC codes, and to remain a responsible resource advancing the building industry.
